DSAJ supports families as they navigate the journey of raising and supporting individuals with Down syndrome.
Programs and resources are designed to support individuals through every milestone – from educating local hospitals on delivering a prenatal or post-natal diagnosis to ensuring children receive therapies and adults have opportunities for sustainable careers.
The Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville (DSAJ) is a non-profit organization committed to helping people with Down syndrome achieve their full potential and to creating a community that is educated, supportive and inclusive of individuals with Down syndrome.
The work of DSAJ is made possible by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and community partners. Our team is committed to advocating for individuals with developmental differences and supporting families throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Stefanie Harrell has served on the DSAJ Board since 2014. She is employed by Bank of America and has been actively involved with DSAJ for over 13 years. Stefanie brings strong organizational leadership and community partnership experience to her role as Secretary.
Corey Portnoy joined the DSAJ Board in 2019. He is a Trial Attorney at Morgan & Morgan, P.A., and resides in Jacksonville. Corey brings legal expertise and a strong commitment to inclusion and advocacy.
Chad Martin is a Jacksonville native and father of two daughters, including his youngest, Hazel, who has Down syndrome. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and serves as a Sales Manager for a chemical distribution company. Chad is deeply committed to supporting families navigating a Down syndrome diagnosis and provides financial oversight as Treasurer.
Ryan is a Jacksonville native and Senior Vice President at Raymond James Wealth Management. He is a graduate of Episcopal High School and the University of North Florida. Ryan serves in numerous leadership roles throughout the community, including President of The Covenant School of Jacksonville and board service with the Jacksonville Community Council, Rotary International (Riverside), The Ronald McDonald House, and Pine Castle. His financial expertise and civic leadership strengthen DSAJ’s governance.
Susan joined the board in 2020. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and owner of East Coast Stepping Stones, Inc. Her clinical expertise strengthens DSAJ’s understanding of evidence-based behavioral supports and family services.
James Kjellman has served on the DSAJ Board of Directors since November 2025. He is Chief Strategy Officer & Partner at JSK Marketing, where he leads marketing strategy, brand development, and partnership growth initiatives. James provides strategic insight that enhances DSAJ’s outreach, visibility, and long-term sustainability.
Jack Lynch has more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry and most recently served as General Manager of Nimnicht Buick GMC. A graduate of Bishop Kenny High School and Xavier University with a degree in Marketing, Jack also serves on the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Auto Dealers Association. He brings extensive business and community engagement experience to DSAJ.
Lindsay has been surrounded by and engaged with individuals of varying abilities throughout their life. As a teacher for students with Down syndrome and other unique abilities, they are passionate about inclusive education and supporting students and families both inside and outside the classroom. Their dedication to advocacy and celebrating every success makes them a valued member of the DSAJ Board.
Amy Mantione is a Nurse Practitioner at Mayo Clinic and has lived in Jacksonville for over 30 years. She joined DSAJ in 2019 following her daughter Faith’s prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. Amy is passionate about advocacy, education, and empowering families with accurate, supportive information.
Amy Katherine Ahrberg is a registered nurse and dedicated Parent Advocate who is passionate about supporting families as they begin their journey following a Down syndrome diagnosis. She brings both clinical knowledge and compassionate guidance to help ensure new families feel informed, encouraged, and connected to essential resources.
Samantha graduated from Bartram Trail High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Sciences from Florida State University. Growing up with a younger sister, Emma, who has Down Syndrome, Samantha developed a deep passion for working with the special needs community. This experience allowed her to become an integral part of the Down Syndrome community and appreciate the incredible individuals who make it so special. From a young age, Samantha was involved in events like the Buddy Walk and Special Olympics, participating as a supporter and volunteer. Seeing the world through her sister’s eyes opened her heart and mind to the unique possibilities within this community, fueling her desire to ensure they receive the love and support they deserve. Emma’s presence in her life has been a true gift, inspiring Samantha to give back to the community that so warmly welcomed her family and continues to make Emma feel like the extraordinary person she is.

Bea brings a unique blend of financial expertise and creative vision to the DSAJ team. With an Associate Degree in Accounting and current studies toward a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of North Florida, she plays a key role in managing nonprofit finances and developing marketing strategies that amplify DSAJ’s mission.
Originally from the Philippines, Bea is passionate about raising awareness and breaking down barriers for individuals with Down syndrome. She believes every person, regardless of ability, should be valued, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive. Her advocacy fuels her work both in Northeast Florida and in her home country, where she hopes to inspire lasting inclusion and understanding.

Reema is a Florida native born in Melbourne FL. She has two older sisters who live in Atlanta. Reema has lived in North Florida since she was 14 and graduated from Yule High School. Reema continued her education and graduated as a part of the inaugural class of the DSAJ’s Career Solutions Academy in 2019. She enjoys dance, music, and movies. She also enjoys hanging out with her friends and family.
