Ward brings a passion for servant leadership, community engagement, and relationship building to DSAJ as the organization continues to expand its impact and strengthen the programs and services it provides to hundreds of local families.

“We are excited to welcome TJ as our new Executive Director,” said Nathan Walter, Chair of the DSAJ Board of Directors. “TJ’s leadership, passion for serving others, and ability to build meaningful relationships make him an outstanding choice to lead our organization. We are confident he will continue to grow DSAJ’s impact while strengthening the support we provide to individuals with developmental differences and their families throughout our community.”

Ward said he is honored to join an organization that has made such a meaningful difference in the lives of so many families.

“It is an incredible privilege to join the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville and serve a community that is built on acceptance, opportunity, and unwavering support,” said Ward. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, families, and community partners to build upon DSAJ’s strong foundation. Together, we will continue creating opportunities for individuals with developmental differences to thrive while expanding awareness, strengthening inclusion, and ensuring every family knows they have a place to belong.”

As Executive Director, Ward will oversee DSAJ’s programs, fundraising initiatives, community partnerships, and strategic growth while continuing to champion inclusion throughout Northeast Florida.

One of Ward’s first opportunities to engage with the community will be the 2026 DSAJ Buddy Walk®, the organization’s largest annual celebration and signature fundraising event.

Taking place Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach, the Buddy Walk brings together families, friends, businesses, schools, and supporters from across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome while promoting a more inclusive community.

Funds raised through the Buddy Walk directly support DSAJ’s year-round programs and services, including new parent support, family and social programs, recreation activities, educational workshops, advocacy initiatives, and the organization’s Inclusion Solutions Scholarship.

“The Buddy Walk is much more than a fundraiser. It’s a celebration of our community and everything we can accomplish when we come together,” Ward said. “I invite everyone to join us on October 10 as we celebrate the incredible individuals and families who make DSAJ such a special organization.”

Community members, sponsors, volunteers, and families are encouraged to participate in this year’s event and help DSAJ continue providing life-changing programs and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
