Our Soccer Program
Players, Parents, Coaches & Volunteers,
Soccer season is right around the corner and I know everyone is looking forward to a great soccer season!
Beginning Saturday, October 22, we will play from 9:00-10:00am at Patton Park, 2850 Hodges Blvd. Click here for map.
Attached are two documents–you may send your completed forms via e-mail, or bring them to the field on the first day of the game. Also, I will have blank forms with me on 10/22.

We order uniforms for new players OR players that have outgrown their uniform (if this is the case, please wash and return the uniform.) Please complete the information requested on the registration form regarding sizes. The cost of the uniforms is covered by the Down Syndrome Association.
The primary purpose of this program is to provide an environment in which everyone participating can have fun, safe exercise, learn how to play as a team and make friends. This program is sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association Jacksonville (no fee to players) and is open to any individual with a developmental disability. There is no age requirement or limitation, however, a parent or other person responsible for the player must be present during the game. We emphasize safety, team spirit and good sportsmanship conduct. Below are the rules and recommendations for the game:
- All balls stay on the ground when practicing and playing
- Soccer attire–appropriate, pants/shorts and t-shirt, tennis shoes or soccer cleats and shin guards if preferred
- Good sportsmanship is expected at all times–for example, players should not shout at each other and are expected to shake hands at the end of each game
- A parent, guardian or person responsible for the player must stay at the complex while their child is on the field
- Most soccer rules are followed, but the spirit of the game is most important
- We stress fun competition and an atmosphere in which everybody wins
The threat of rain always poses a dilemma. First and foremost, do what you feel most comfortable. As we all know it could be raining at your house and not raining at the field or vice versa. Further, it could change within the hour. To check the field conditions after 8:00am, please call the Patton Park's weather hotline - 223-3606. There is a recording which will let you know if the field is open or closed.
Please note that each and every Friday throughout the season, I will distribute an e-mail by noon to keep you informed of any news related to the next day's game. Therefore, please be sure to check your e-mail every Friday!
I know the players are excited to start playing. I can't wait to see you all on Saturday, October 22 at Patton Park at 9:00am!
